About
Rebuilding the centre ground
About centrism
Centrism is about selecting the best policies from both the left and right, while firmly rejecting political extremes. Instead, we believe policy should be guided by evidence and by what works in practice, not by ideology. We therefore draw inspiration from the Nordic model, which successfully combines a strong economy with high-quality public services.
Our mission to rebuild the centre ground means actively campaigning for these values. It also means presenting centrism as a credible and practical alternative to the current system. Our work has already built cross-party support and helped develop hundreds of evidence-based policies aligned with centrist principles.
Core centrist ideas
As centrists, we understand our system is broken and we need real solutions to fix it. We have the climate crisis, inequality, the housing crisis, the NHS backlog, and many other challenges. We aim to fix what is broken, without breaking what works. We have a set of ideas that guide our solutions to these issues.
Pragmatic policy
We live in a complex and changing society, and no single ideology has the answers to every issue. Instead of relying on ideology, policy should be guided by what works in practice, and we should adapt to changing realities. As a result, we support pragmatic policies that draw from ideas across the political spectrum.
Evidence-based policy
In a time of political mistrust, evidence-based policy is how we restore credibility and deliver real progress. Delivering reform will mean finding solutions that work in practice and are shaped by evidence and research.
Moderate
Those on the extremes of politics exploit fears but fail to deliver real solutions and fuel divisions. We instead favour moderate, balanced, and constructive changes which aim to improve and reform existing systems wherever possible.
Learning from the Nordics
We draw inspiration from the Nordic countries. They have shown how countries can combine high levels of happiness, democracy, and equality with low levels of corruption. As a result, we support the Nordic Model of sustainable economic growth, fostering worker-employer cooperation, and investing to create strong public services.
A politics built on hope
With workable and evidence-based policies, we can deliver real and meaningful change to improve lives. Our message is one of hope, that things can get better with better policies. This is our antidote to messages of political extremes, which too often rely on fear, cynicism, and apathy.
Working together
We can only achieve this change by working together across parties and society as a whole. This is the foundation needed to build consensus and to create long-term change.

Values
Our vision is for a fairer, greener country, with a resilient economy and well-funded public services that support people when they need it most. We want to create opportunities for everyone, supported by a government that protects the most vulnerable.
Support growth and innovation
Entrepreneurs and businesses are essential drivers of growth and innovation. We believe in a government that supports business and works to make the UK one of the easiest places to do business.
Tackle inequality
Inequality is widening and strong public services are vital to creating a more equal start in life and ensuring a safety net which is always there for those who need it. We believe in strengthening these services so they remain reliable, accessible, and well-funded.
Sustainability
Protecting the environment is one of the most pressing challenges of our time. This means building a sustainable economy, investing in green public services, and taking action to combat climate change.
Strengthening communities
We want to bring communities together and reach across divides by creating shared community spaces, encouraging social cohesion, and ensuring that communities are inclusive and connected.
Equal opportunities
Everyone deserves an equal start in life, fair opportunities, and equality before the law. Achieving this requires reforms to our education system, economy, and justice system.
Accountability
We believe that everyone in politics, business, and public services should be held accountable for their actions. This means enforcing clear codes of conduct and establishing independent complaints processes to ensure transparency and integrity.
