Back our call to give renters a real say
We want a system where tenants have affordable rents and good living conditions.
Renters have a bad deal. The cost of rent is going up whilst wages are failing to catch up, and the cost of living crisis is making things even worse. They can also end up stuck with bad living conditions, including mould and unsuitable living conditions.
Without change, we will continue to see renters stuck in bad conditions with high prices.
We are calling for a new system of collective negotiations that would allow renters to negotiate a better deal. It would give them a real say over their living standards and rent prices.
It would give tenants the right to negotiate with landlords directly, with rules set by the government and across the entire housing sector. This would place real power in the hands of tenants, which has been successful in countries like Sweden in creating real improvements.
Back our call and tell Steve Reed to give renters a real say over rent and living conditions.
Your support will help to create a better system for renters and would help to improve the renting system across England.
To Rt Hon Steve Reed OBE MP, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government
We call on you to implement a new framework of collective negotiations for renters that:
-
Creates a framework for renters to negotiate with landlords both individually and as a sector
-
Gives tenants a greater say over rents and living conditions
-
Makes negotiations mandatory and makes them enforceable by the government
