What next for the UK’s approach to choice at the end of life?

The debate around assisted dying has been growing with debates in parliament alongside high public support for reform on the issue. Both Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer support time for an assisted dying debate within Parliament.

At this event we will discuss these proposals for assisted dying legislation, what positive arguments there are for reform alongside how we can address concerns about its use. We will also discuss the lessons we can learn from other countries which already have systems for assisted dying.

The first part of the event will look at the previous attempts to change the law,  why the current law requires reform and how other areas of the world have reformed their systems. The second part of the event will include a question and answer session where members of the audience will get the chance to ask our panel about the issues which have been discussed.
